With plans to boost COVID-19 vaccine production into the billions of doses, Moderna made major renovations at its Massachusetts manufacturing site that more than doubled its size. The mRNA developer renovated its manufacturing site in Norwood, Massachusetts. They expanded the facility,
from 300,000 square feet to roughly 650,000 square feet through the acquisition of another building located on the same campus. The expansion boosted Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine production capacity at the facility by 50%.

FEATURES​​

NSMC was responsible for the Plumbing/Process Piping scope of work, including:

  • Specialized Laboratory Waste and Vent equipment and piping system

  • Compressed Air (CA) and Vacuum (VAC) Equipment and piping systems

  • CO2, N2, and O2 Piping Systems

  • Interior Domestic, Protected, and Tempered water piping

  • Emergency Shower & Eyewash fixture installation

  • SS Swagelok CUP Connections, Quick Connects and Valving to Lab Equipment
